Singer : John Denver

Title : Take me home, Country Roads

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHXGsUqWv5o

[lyric]
Almost heaven
West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountain
Shenandah River

Life is old there
older than the trees
YOunger than the mountains
Growin' like a breeze

Country Roads take me home
To the place i belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home Country Roads

All my memories
gather 'round her
Miner's lady
Stranger to blue water

Dark and dusty
Painted on the sky
Misty taste od moon shine
Teardrop in my eye

Country Roads take me home
To the place i belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home Country Roads

i hear her voice in the mornin' hours
She calls me
the radio reminds me
of my home far away and Drivin' down the road
i get a feelin'
That i should have been home
Yesterday, Yesterday

Country Roads take me home
To the place i belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home Country Roads

Country Roads take me home
To the place i belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home Country Roads
Take me home Country Roads
Take me home Country Roads

[sumarry of this song]
Simply, they sings that our country is the best for us.
lots of places make us think of our memories,
even if we like our life in different cities,
we remember the past.

[why i like this song]
first ,i like this melody that everyone can hum a tune to ourself.
in addition, the meanings of this lyric is not so difficult and easy to understand for us.
this song reminds of me my country.
that's why i like this song!

Well, this is also one of the classic travel songs that comes to my mind whenever I think about travel. Actually, the version you have linked is the Olivia Newton-John cover version of the song. I think that it is odd that Olivia Newton-John has covered this song because this song is about returning to a hometown in West Virginia in the US, and Olivia Newton-John is an Aussie. I guess everyone thinks about their hometowns sometimes, and maybe that is why she did a cover of this song. (Another idea is that maybe she was a good friend of John Denver and this a memento to his legacy.)

I think the Olivia Newton-John version is fine but I do like the John Denver version better, however. John Denver has a deep rich voice. Why don't you listen to his version and compare it to the Olivia Newton-John version? Here's the link:

I think this song makes people miss their hometowns (including me).

Do you know what moonshine is? It is homemade liquor!

By the way, John Denver crashed his own private airplane and killed himself in 1997. He had a small open cockpit plane that only allows a pilot and no passengers. He loved nature and in the end nature killed him.

Thanks for posting this classic travel song!
